ORO VALLEY, Ariz. - Former Justice of the Peace Lisa Royal was arrested for a DUI on the morning of Jan. 1.
Royal, who is currently the Pima County Court Administrator, was pulled over just after 1 a.m. on New Year's Day for having a headlight out.
When the arresting officer asked for her driver's license, Royal initially handed him her credit card.
Royal was pulled over near the intersection of La Cañada Drive and Orange Grove Road.
According to the report, Royal admitted to drinking two beers earlier in the night and said she had stopped drinking by 9 p.m.
The deputy said Royal had bloodshot eyes and he could smell alcohol when he was talking to her.
When she was asked to do field sobriety tests, she was reportedly staggering getting out of the vehicle and she was not able to complete either test.
Results from a preliminary breath test came back at .115. The legal limit is .08.
Royal has yet to comment back on the matter.
She does not have any prior DUI convictions and her court date is set for Jan. 28 with Oro Valley Municipal Court.
