Ford, Volkswagen to expand collaboration

Ford and Volkswagen are expanding their partnership.

Volkswagen says it’ll invest 2.6 billion into an autonomous vehicle company in Pittsburgh that is mainly owned by Ford.

The company is called Argo AI and it’s aimed at putting autonomous cars on the road both in the U.S. and Europe.

Ford and Volkswagen will also collaborate on electric vehicles targeted for sale in Europe starting in 2023.

The companies say they’ll remain “independent and fiercely competitive,” but that their combined effort will save money on development and manufacturing costs
