Mexico to play on Tuesday in Arizona in Gold Cup semi-final
GLENDALE, AZ – Team Mexico’s national soccer team is as popular in the Tucson area (if not more) than the United States when it comes to the number of die-hard fans. The border neighbors (USA & Mexico) are both just one victory away from meeting in the Gold Cup Championship game in Chicago. Meanwhile, Tuesday evening in Glendale, a near-sellout is expected as Mexico will take on Haiti in the Gold Cup semi-finals. Hundreds of Tucsonans are expected to make the drive north to the Phoenix area for the game. USA will battle it out against Jamaica in Nashville, Tennessee.
Fans in Sonoran Desert are breathing "sigh of relief" after Mexico survived penalty shootout vs. Costa Rica in the Gold Cup. Folks in the Phoenix-area: undoubtedly happy because Gold Cup semi-final on Tuesday will be a packed house. Had Mexico lost, probably not. Highlights: pic.twitter.com/z5LP4kTPxr
