A new government study shows pot use in pregnant women has increased

NBC — More women are smoking marijuana while pregnant.

Government researchers analyzed data from over 467,000 women who were between the ages of 12 and 44.

Overall, 7% of the women said they smoked marijuana while pregnant in 2017.

That is an increase of just over 3% in 2002.

And the women who smoked while in the first trimester increased from nearly 6% to 12%.

Pot use during pregnancy has been associated with effects on fetal growth, including low birth weight.
