TUSD conducts formal posting of Pascua Yaqui, Tohono O’odham Nations’ Flags

TUCSON –Tucson Unified School District conducted the formal posting of the Pascua Yaqui and Tohono O’odham Nations’ Flag on Tuesday during a regular board meeting.

“The Tucson Unified School District Administration acknowledges and recognizes the influence of the Pascua Yaqui and Tohono O’odham Nations as culturally, academically and artistically significant in the history of the Tucson Unified School District, the district’s future mission and vision and as valued members of the Tucson Unified community,” the district said.

Pascua Yaqui Nation Chairman Robert Valencia and Tohono O’odham Nation Chairman Edward Manuel shared the significance of their respective Nation’s flag during the placement of the Tribal Flags.
