Arizona baseball takes down Cal

Andrew Nardi pitched a gem and Arizona baseball beat Cal 4-2 in one of the more low-scoring affairs of the season.

Matthew Dyer’s home run in the 8th inning gave Arizona much needed insurance as the Wildcats avoided a big number from Cal despite surrendering 13 hits.

The Wildcats badly needed the win, considering the team had lost the first two games of the series.

Arizona is 18-16 and 6-9 in Pac-12 play. Arizona has 22 games left on the season, including 15 Pac-12 games. The Wildcats will likely need to win at least 15 of those games, and 10 Pac-12 games to have a realistic chance at the NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats missed the tourney last year. Arizona made the regional stage in 2017, and played in the College World Series Final in 2016.
