Wrestling team raises money for baby in need of a heart

TUCSON — The Mountain View High School wrestling team is helping raise money for a 5-month-old baby in need of a heart transplant.

On Sunday, members of the wrestling team and the community gathered for a car wash near Cortaro Road and I-10.

They’re hoping to raise money for baby August Acedo, who has a collapsed right lung, pneumonia and is using a breathing tube. Acedo’s family is hopeful he’ll get a new heart. With an extended stay at the hospital, bills are starting to pile up for the family.

‘We’re doing a car wash to help out my friend Rudy. His little brother needs a heart transplant. It’s all the way up in Phoenix, and they need help with the hospital bills,” said Bryson Young, a Mountain View wrestler. “The wrestling team, we’re all family here. They needed help, and we’re here to help.”

Baby Acedo has a GoFundMe page set up. If you’d like to donate to the family, click here.
