Award-winning Ari Alexander joined the KVOA Sports Team in January 2016 as a sports anchor and reporter.
In his time in Tucson, Ari has covered a Final Four, College World Series, MLB Playoffs and various bowl games along with pretty much every Arizona Wildcat sport.
Before KVOA, Ari worked at WMC-TV in Memphis where he covered the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies along with SEC Football and Memphis Tiger basketball.
A 2013 graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism, Ari’s passion is sports storytelling, which is something he’s been fortunate enough to receive recognition for.
Ari won a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Sports Reporting in 2018, along with the 2016-17 Rocky Mountain Southwest Emmy Award for Best Sports Reporter.
He’s also a two-time Mid-America Emmy winner in the category of student production while at KOMU, in Columbia, MO and also has two other Emmy Nominations, both for best sports story. Ari has also won 2nd Place in the Tennessee AP Awards for TV Sports reporting in a large market, along with a regional 1st Place SPJ Mark of Excellence Award and national 2nd Place SPJ Mark of Excellence award while in college at Mizzou.
If you see Ari at your game, don’t be afraid to say hi – he’ll usually be the one with the camera singing along to the PA warmup music.
Ari loves golfing, playing pickup hoops, hip-hop music and sushi, but he says not necessarily in that order.
