Hittin’ the Trails: Fall colors in the Santa Ritas & Huachucas

TUCSON – Fall colors fade soon atop Mount Lemmon, so we’re “Hittin’ the Trails” at places where foliage peaks in November.

South of Sierra Vista resides Ramsey Canyon. The Hamburg Trail is a good moderate hike in the Huachuca Mountains. This links up with the Bledsoe Loop at Ramsey Canyon Preserve. Along with the leaves, expect to see lots of wildlife.

Madera Canyon should have Fall colors showing the next few weeks. The rugged Super Trail crosses a stream bed several times, flanked by foliage and dramatic views of Mount Wrightson. For the ultimate weekend warrior, this hike affords a 4,000 foot elevation gain.
