Getting Answers: Can a person with an active case of the coronavirus get a COVID-19 vaccine as treatment?
TUCSON (KVOA)- Some viewers had questions about getting a COVID-19 vaccine while having an active case of COVID-19.
One viewer asked: "Is the vaccine a current treatment if someone has an active case of Covid, or is it intended only to stop the spread among the vulnerable (uninfected) population?"
The Pima County Health Department Director Dr. Theresa Cullen said that a person needs to recover from COVID-19 before they can get a COVID-19 vaccine.
PCHD released a potential COVID-19 vaccine prioritization overview. The health department expects that the vaccine to not be widely available until spring of 2021.
