TUCSON (KVOA) - Some viewers have emailed us asking where to get a COVID-19 test for free after some places were charging more than $100 per test.

We found a couple locations in southern Arizona that offer a coronavirus test for free.

CVS Pharmacy Drive-Thru

There are five locations in Tucson and one location in Oro Valley. There will be two more locations added Friday. Anyone who wants to get tested at the drive-thru must sign up and register for an appointment time and location. Click here to request an appointment and view locations.

NOTE: As more people get tested for the coronavirus, these appointments fill up fast. Also, we are told there have been some computer glitches lately so be sure to call ahead of time to check before you go to your confirmed drive-thru appointment.

Walgreens Drive-Thru

There are two locations in Tucson that offer coronavirus testing at this time. Registration is required online for an appointment time and location. Click here to request an appointment.

Escalera Health

Testing is done Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. until noon. You don't have to be a patient and no appointment is needed. Escalera Health said that the cost will be sent to insurance, so be sure to check with your insurance company prior. Escalera Health says that it doesn't charge for the swab, but you may get a bill from the lab. Also, self-pay options are available to those without insurance.

Chiricahua Community Health Center

The center is holding three days of testing in partnership with Arizona G&T Cooperatives and Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative, which funded $15,000 to get 300 more coroanvirus tests for the center. The following are the upcoming dates and locations:

  • Tuesday, June 30th in Willcox
