Humane Society of Southern Arizona looking for fosters

TUCSON- The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is asking the community to help find foster homes for pets staying in their shelter.

HSSA’S Foster Care Program provides care for pets that are not quite ready for adoption. Foster care volunteers will care for pets in their own homes, providing pets that are underweight, underage, sick, or injured, a break from the shelter.

There are currently 46 pets waiting for foster homes with ages ranging from 3-weeks-old to 5 years old. These pets also will need anywhere from a few days to a few months in foster care. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older, and have reliable transportation to and from HSSA for necessary veterinarian examinations and vaccinations.

To become a Foster Care Volunteer for HSSA, visit their website at HSSAZ.ORG/FOSTER and complete a volunteer application. After filing out an application, volunteers attend an orientation and foster care class. Following the orientation class, HSSA’s Foster Care team will speak with you and discuss what pet you feel comfortable taking into your home. HSSA then will schedule a time with you to pick up your foster pet and supplies.

For more information visit, email, or call 520-327-6088, ext. 148.
