Back To School: Tucson-area schools plans amid COVID-19 spike
After months of being home, kids, teachers and staff will soon be back in their classrooms. Things, however, will look different post the coronavirus. Many are worried about safety, and others are eager to return.
Here are key dates of major COVID-19 related events in education:
March 16: Gov. Ducey and Kathy Hoffman, State Superintendent of Schools, announced the closure of schools from March 16 to March 27.
March 30: Ducey and Hoffman announced an extension of the school closure through the end of the school year.
June 29: The governor announced an Executive Order delaying physical in-school classes to begin until at least Aug. 17.
Aug. 8: Arizona Department of Health Services releases benchmarks for when schools can resume in-person learning
