Sunnyside falls to Hawaii in chance to advance to Little League World Series

Representing Tucson and the state of Arizona, the boys from Mission Manor Park began the day just one win away from advancing to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn after defeating Northern California 3-2 on Friday. Unfortunately, their nemesis in the regional, Hawaii, beat Sunnyside LL and Arizona’s representative 4-1 on national TV.

Rio Rico grad & UA alum win gold at Pan Am Games

Two track and field athletes with University of Arizona ties joined diver Delaney Schnell by medaling at the 2019 Pan American Games.  Rio Rico High school grad Carlos Villareal (who’ll be a senior at the U of A) grabbed a gold medal in the 1500 meter, while Sage Watson won a gold medal in the 400 meter hurdles. Sunnyside kids move closer to Little League World Series

The group of Tucson 11 and 12-year-old kids who play at Mission Manor Park have moved just a few games away from punching their ticket to the Little League World Series.  Sunnyside Little League is hoping to ride the momentum of their victory over Southern California to another victory.  They suit up again and play on national TV (on ESPN) at 6 p.m. Tucson time. Cienega High grad moves from UA QB to receiver

Former Cienega High School standout Jamarye Joiner got some snaps last season for the U of A as a quarterback.  However, with Khalil Tate at 100 percent, he’s now moved to wide receiver.
