Representing Tucson and the state of Arizona, the boys from Mission Manor Park began the day just one win away from advancing to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn after defeating Northern California 3-2 on Friday. Unfortunately, their nemesis in the regional, Hawaii, beat Sunnyside LL and Arizona’s representative 4-1 on national TV.

Two track and field athletes with University of Arizona ties joined diver Delaney Schnell by medaling at the 2019 Pan American Games. Rio Rico High school grad Carlos Villareal (who’ll be a senior at the U of A) grabbed a gold medal in the 1500 meter, while Sage Watson won a gold medal in the 400 meter hurdles. The group of Tucson 11 and 12-year-old kids who play at Mission Manor Park have moved just a few games away from punching their ticket to the Little League World Series.
