Arizona trooper accused trying to sexually exploit drivers

PHOENIX (AP) — A male now-former Arizona Highway Patrol trooper is accused of trying to exploit eight female drivers for sexual favors during traffic stops and the Arizona Department of Public Safety says officials believe there may have been more victims.

The DPS says it terminated Tremaine Jackson late Tuesday after he was arrested on suspicion of 61 counts including sexual abuse, attempted sexual abuse and sexual exploitation.

DPS Col. Frank Milstead says agency officials are “absolutely horrified” by the allegations against Jackson and want anybody victimized by Jackson to come forward.

Jackson was booked into jail Tuesday night. Court records didn’t indicate whether he has an attorney who could comment on the allegations.

The 13-year veteran of the DPS most recently was assigned to motorcycle duty in metro Phoenix.
