Marshals Service holds funeral for deputy killed in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A funeral will be held Friday for a deputy U.S. marshal who was killed last week serving a warrant in Tucson.

The service at the Tucson Convention Center to honor Chase White is being held Friday morning.

The suspect in the Nov. 28 shooting is Ryan Phillip Schlesinger. He is being held in federal custody pending a grand jury hearing.

White was shot when he and other marshals were serving a warrant against Schlesinger for stalking a female police sergeant.

White had been with the U.S. Marshals Service since 2015. A lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve, he was scheduled to leave for a deployment this week.

The 41-year-old Illinois native is survived by a wife and four children.
