Meteor vs. moon: An out of this world collision

TUCSON – On the night of the Blood Moon an interesting collision took place in outer space. Because of the shadows being cast during the eclipse, astronomers saw a meteor hit the surface of the moon.

Space Weather describes the incident in full detail but check out this picture of where the meteor hit the moon’s surface.

Although this happens all the time, it’s rare to have such a clear view of the occurrence like the conditions provided by the lunar eclipse.
